BREAKING NEWS: AKISAN PRESIDENT APOLOGISES TO GOV EMMANUEL
……………..The President of the Akwa Ibom Association of Nigeria, USA, Mr. Uduakobong “Etukad” Etim Ubon has apologised to the Governor of Akwa Ibom state for the breech in arrangement during the just concluded AKISAN convention in Atlanta,Georgia.
Reliable information from a source who attended a meeting called by the State Delegation headed by the SSG, Sir. Etekamba Umoren which was also attended by among others, the Senate Minority Leader, Distinguished Senator Godswil Akpabio, Distinguished Senators Effiong Bob, Ibok- Essien, Obong Bassey Inuayen, the Chancellor of Ibom Patriots, several Commissioners, Dep. Speaker, AKHA, Hon. Felicia Bassey, ex- Minister, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi etc has stated that the embattled Akisan President apologized profusely to the delegation when confronted with the breach of protocol.
He was said to have told the delegation that he was misdirected to take his decisions
“I respect HE, Governor Udom Emmanuel and we here in Akisan are very proud of his achievements given the lean resources he has had to contend with. I supported him in 2015 and will support him again in 2019 to continue with the great job he has been doing.”
He is said to have expressed the desire of AkISAN to honour Governor Emmanuel with the highest award( proceeded to pull out the plaque).
When asked why that was not included, he again went on a spree of apologies.
It is clear the main issue was the breach of protocol which the AKISAN President fully acknowledged and took responsibility for the grave error of judgement.
The issue was not chiefly on the registration fees. Government has assisted AKISAN over the years and that courtesy has always been extended to the official Government delegation. The AKISAN President, the Vice and other executive members who attended the meeting were merely reminded of this long established order.
The source furthered that, “the people who are peddling lies should be reminded that the office and person of the Governor of our State is our political and spiritual symbol and should be accorded the proper respect irrespective of people’s political leaning.
“The withdrawal of the Government official delegation was the proper and necessary thing to do,” the source had concluded.
