COURT DISMISSES SUIT FILED BY 5 OUSTED LAWMAKERS,DESCRIBING IT AS AN ABUSE OF COURT PROCESS

The Federal High Court today dismissed the suit filed by the 5 ousted lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly against the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke.

The suit, which was commenced by Hon. Nse Ntuen, Hon. Victor Udofia, Hon. Gabriel Toby, Hon. Otobong Ndem, and Hon. Idongesit Ituen as Plaintiffs, sought, amongst others, to set aside the declaration of their seats vacant by the Speaker of the Akwa State House of Assembly.

The court, in its ruling, held that the suit amounted to an abuse of court process in view of other pending suits in respect of the subject matter and dismissed the suit.
