IN THE NEWS: CHARLES UDOH IN PERSPECTIVE
…….Dr Henry Kissinger is an American political scientist whose cup of wisdom helped two former President of the United States in Richard Nixon and Henry Ford achieve fabulous feats during their administrations. It was him who said that “the task of the leader is to get his people from where they are to where they have not been.”
In truth, Sir Charles Udoh is one gentleman whose ideology in information and brand management clearly mirrors Kissinger’s assertion. Since his appointment as the Chief custodian of the information machineries of the State, Udoh has worked tooth and nail to integrate the revolutionary or digital media into the mainstream of the State’s information structure. The direct result is expressly seen in the exponential increase of the State presence in the Country’s cyberspace and the world wide web at large in comparison with what was obtainable before the advent of his appointment.
And so, it’s imperative and most pertinent that we throw a retrospect on a gentleman who has broken the convention of mechanical dissemination of information and taken us to a realm of digitisation!
Udoh is a graduate of University of Uyo and an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, with a wealth of over two decades of brain and hands-on experience in advertising, marketing communication, brand management, training and consulting.
He has at various times managed the brand and communication functions of four major Nigerian financial service groups – Guaranty Trust Bank, First Bank, Diamond Bank & Wema Bank.
He started his career as a trainer and business consultant working for the Nigerian Bankers’ Committee owned FITC.
Before being called to public service in December 2016, Udoh spent five years working as a brand and marketing communication entrepreneur, driving Adam and Agnes Limited as Managing Consultant and Chief Ideas Officer. During this period, he served as consultant to ExxonMobil, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Group, AXAMansard Insurance, Intels, Orlean Invest, Heritage Bank, Mainstreet Bank (defunct) amongst others.
During the course of his career, he has developed and implemented over one hundred major local and international marketing communication and public relations campaigns across a variety of mediums and channels.
He is a recipient of the 2014 Society of Nigerian Artists Special Achievement Award; a former Vice President of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks in Nigeria and a member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria.
