IN THE NEWS: GOV EMMANUEL TO GIVE ORUK ANAM A SCHOOL OF MIDWIFERY —AKS INFO BOSS, CHARLES UDOH
………..In his continuous efforts at boosting the health sector of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel has earmarked the construction of a School of Midwifery at Ikot Okoro General Hospital.
This is part of measures by government to enhance healthcare delivery for the people as well as making Oruk Anam General Hospital a one-stop healthcare institution in the state based on its location and availability of large expanse of land.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh KSJ, made these known recently in Uyo, while appearing Live on a Comfort Radio 95.1FM phone-in magazine programme – The Bush House.
Charles Udoh said, Governor Udom Emmanuel is carrying out massive rehabilitation and upgrading campaign in General hospitals across the state with a view to digitizing all major health institutions in the state to link them to the internet for easy access to patients’ health data at any location within the state.
He said, Ikot Okoro General Hospital, as its Ikono and Etinan counterparts, among others, has been equipped with state-of-the-arts medical equipment purchased from USA, disclosing that, already 25 containers of the state-of-the-arts facilities have been taken delivery of by the state government.
Udoh, disclosed that, away from the secondary health institutions in the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel has also reach out to Ibom Specialist hospital, a quaternary referral health institution with the provision of state-of-the arts medical facilities like 5 new Dialysis machines and a modular Theatre as well as furnishing two more floors of the hospital which were left bare by the past government.
Maintaining that the state government has put in place efficient personnel recruitment modalities and training programmes for needed medical hands to handle the state-of-the-arts facilities brought into the state, the Information Boss said, government has set-up a technical workshop within the Etinan General Hospital premises for the maintenance and repairs of the equipment in the hospital if need arises.
The State Information helmsman reiterated that, Governor Udom Emmanuel has a raw passion for the development of Akwa Ibom State to make it compete favourably with such strong economies of world like Singapore and China stressing that, all the Governor needs is support by the people and the continuous maintenance of peace and security in the state to enable investors have confidence and trust in Akwa Ibom to invest their hard earned foreign currencies in the development processes of the state.
To this end, Charles Udoh implored all Akwa Ibom people to support the re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel come March 2, as the Governor means well for the people and not allow themselves to be deceived by a few strange bedfellow selfish politicians in the other divide who had opportunities to develop the state, sitting on a multi-billion naira interventionist agency, NDDC, but could not even construct a bridge into his community from Edemaya while the electricity transformer in his community was provided there by the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He emphasized that, Governor Udom Emmanuel had already made a choice and comfortable living for himself from his successful years in the banking industry, business and corporate world before his foray into governance of the state and so is poised to touch lives with people-oriented projects not like those whose first choice cars and houses came only when they came into government using public funds for their selfish interest.
“Udom Emmanuel didn’t need to sell himself as a Governor. He had already made a reputable name nationally and internationally sitting as an executive director in one of the mega banks in Nigeria and other countries. Udom is a marketable brand internationally. His re-election is a battle between an outstanding brand, a man of God who represents God and Light versus the other divide which represents war and darkness”.
“A vote for Udom Emmanuel, is a vote for Peace, security, prosperity and sustainable development”, Udoh emphasized.
