IN THE NEWS: GOV. UDOM ENCOURAGES YOUTH TO BUILD CAREER IN SPORTS

………….At Godswill Akpabio International Stadium – Uyo where the opening ceremony of Nigeria Air Force 3rd Inter-Command Combat Sports Competition 2018 took place earlier today, Gov. Udom said youths should build career in sports. The Governor who has created enabling environment for sports to thrive has built at least ten sporting centre with state of the art facilities in the ten federal Constituencies of Akwa Ibom State.

His Excellency, Gov. Udom charged youths to take advantage of facilities in the State to develop passion for sports because it is a lucrative venture both in the national & international scene.

Gov. Udom commended the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar for choosing Akwa Ibom State for this year’s competition. As the chief host, the Governor promised them a peaceful stay while enjoying the warm hospitality of our dear State.

The Special Guest of honour at the event was Governor of Cross River state, Prof. Ben Ayade who was represented by his deputy.

In his speech, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar praised Governor Udom for developing the State & making Akwa Ibom a choice destination. The Air Force Chief expressed gratitude to Gov. Udom for being a promoter of sports & youth development.

The event was witnessed by top government functionaries such as the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Sir Monday Uko, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Mr. Aniefiok Iwaudofia, SA ( Marketing & Brand Management, Mr. Ime Uwah, SA ( Grassroot Mobilisation) Mr. Uwemeidimo Asuquo, State Publicity Secretary of AKS Youth Caucus, Mr. Linus Effiong, SA ( Inter-party Affairs ), Mr. Lawrence Udoh, youths & women groups.
