IN THE NEWS: GOVERNOR EMMANUEL EXPLAINS WHY APC HAS REFUSED TO ACCEPT DEFEAT

……Governor Udom Emmanuel has identified shame as the singular reason APC candidates in Akwa Ibom State have refused to accept defeat.
Speaking with reporters at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo shortly on arrival from an official trip, he said “when you see people that we have defeated hands down bragging and talking till tomorrow, it is not easy to bear shame.”
“All the boasting and so on, we’ve seen it now, it is not yet time for us to answer them, we will answer them at the appropriate time.”
The Governor thanked the people of Akwa Ibom for showing him love with their votes, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“Believe me, it calls for more sacrifice on my own part to serve my people so passionately and with everything that I can afford to put into this service.”
He bemoaned Nigerians for their inability to accept defeat saying it is out of shame.
“But I can only advise, Nigerians should tell them to keep quiet, that Akwa Ibom people have spoken and that is the end and that they should go and bear their shame.”
He dismissed all the re-election boasts of the opposition members in the state, but said he was not ready to be distracted by them.
“But for now, we try to show some sense of maturity and to tell them that we know better than they do.”
“So let them just congratulate us and thank Akwa Ibom people for taking their faith into their hands and deciding the fact that, no more of those tyrant and useful propaganda and boasting.”
Apparently referring to the APC leader who lost his senatorial re-election, Mr Emmanuel said, “Nigerians are not foolish, you can’t even deliver yourself, you are just bragging all over the place.”
“Akwa Ibom people have left them, that’s what I am happy about, so don’t bother about what you hear or what they are trying to say, i don’t think it is a problem.”
He said what was important is to appreciate the people for the support and love to his administration.
“Right now, it is for us to show appreciation to our own people and do a lot more to tell them that we appreciate their support and their love and that is what I am out for,” he added.
