IN THE NEWS: Ikim, Ntekpere, ors lauds Schools Clean-Up Project in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. ***Commends Progenitor, Prince Ukut.

…………In preparation for the post COVID-19 Era, Ikot Ekpene Partnership Project commenced its Schools Clean-Up initiative today. The first of its kind initiative was flagged off at the Methodist central school, Anwa Udo Akai, in Ikot Ekpene local government area by the Chairman Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA) Obong Prince Akpan Ikim. The event saw all and sundry come out to be a part of the epoch making event.

Speaking at the event, The Executive Director , Enforcement and Recovery, Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Leo Umanah, who commended the efforts of Prince Ukutt and his team for their services so far while also pledging support for the project, He also called on all citizens of the area to emulate same gesture so to help alleviate sufferings of young people as they get set for resumption of schools.

Flagging-off the Project, the AKSEPWMA Boss, Obong. Prince Ikim applauded Prince Samuel Ukut for his initiative as it is a step in theright direction. He further added that the exercise would reduce stress for Pupils and Students upon resumption of schooling, Prince Ikim also promised support for the project with machineries from his agency and partner to see the project to a successful conclusion.

The Member Representing Ikot Ekpene State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere while expressing himself also applauded the the project and the Progenitor stating that the programme is a good step in the right direction and promises to support the group,
He also commended Prince Ukut for his humanitarian services so far and urged him to do more.

The Progenitor of the Programme Prince Ukut in his remarks, expressed appreciation to Wife of the Governor Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel for supporting the program through her pet project, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path Initiative (FEYREP), also thanked Ini Ememobong foundation and Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council for supporting the vision.

He added that the first phase of the School Clean-Up will be carried out in 12 Government owned Schools randomly selected in Ikot Ekpene. Going further it will be extended to secondary schools as needs arises.

He also added that the upsurge of the global pandemic has caused this to be a necessity, due to the shutdown of schools for over two months that primary school pupils won’t be able to combat the grasses as this may cause so many pupils to stay away from school.

He added that many pupils goes to school without being properly fed and that alone compounds challenges to them. He also pleaded with other Government agencies to extend their support so to help extends the initiative to other schools in the Local Government Area.

He further appreciated the dignitaries for honoring his invitation and thanked them specially for their support so far.
