IN THE NEWS: Social Media Influencers Kick off #CleanAndGreenAkwaIbom Campaign. A group of Social Media Influencers in Uyo will today kick off an awareness campaign tagged #CleanAndGreenAkwaIbom. The campaign is set to raise awareness through Social media on the importance of a clean and green environment. Basing the philosophy of the campaign on Dalai Lama’s quote that; “A clean environment is a human right like any other…” the Akwa Ibom based influencers believe that improper disposal of refuse is significantly degrading the ecosystem and can lead to loss of lives and property when they obstruct free flow of flood water. According to the group; “We need clean air and water to survive. You don’t need to be an environmentalist or activist to ensure your environment is clean and green. It’s a call to environmental responsibility. Sweep your surroundings daily. Dispose your waste in a waste basket. Don’t litter your gutter/drainage system. Cooperate with the green brigade that clean our roads daily. Don’t forget to plant trees while obtaining government authorisation to cut down any trees”. For more information on this campaign, the public is encouraged to contact the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo.
