MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING: Mrs. Udom Emmanuel Charges Parents on Family Ethos

………The wife of Akwa Ibom State governor, Her Excellency Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel has implored parents especially mothers not to abdicate their responsibilities as caregivers in the family.

She said many ills in the present day society is as a result of dysfunctional homes, stating that the need for mothers to be vigilant over their wards and be up in their duties as home builders cannot be overemphasized.

Speaking during the Women Monthly Prayer Summit for the month of August at the banquet hall of Government House, Uyo, Mrs. Emmanuel pointed out that as mothers; it was pertinent for them to regularly engage in healthy conversations with their children so as to ascertain their wellbeing.

In her words: “As mothers, we must not abdicate our responsibilities as custodians of family values. The rate of crime among our young ones is not encouraging. The boy-child especially is faced with growing concerns because most of them are vulnerable to societal vices. We must caution when necessary and instill discipline in our wards. ” Mrs. Emmanuel remarked.

The First Lady, who frowned at the behemoth of cultism in secondary schools, said it was no longer acceptable for stakeholders in the state to treat the monstrous element with kid gloves. She stressed that cultism is prohibited in the state and as such anybody found culpable will face the wrath of the law.

While reflecting on the theme of the prayer summit, “Peace Be Still”, the governor’s wife said God’s peace is free for all and as well encouraged the congregants to accept the Lord Jesus as their personal saviour to enjoy the peace that follows.

The wife of the state Chief Executive added that God’s peace will continue to envelope the state even in the face of adversaries, stating that more developmental projects will achieved in the coming years.

In her exhortation, the officiating minister, Rev. Utibe-eno John who preached on theme, charged the women to turn a new leaf so as to receive the peace of God in their lives.

Reading from the book of Isaiah 30 vs 30, the cleric pointed Jesus is the master over every raging storm, stating that when He is a believer’s boat, nothing will evil will ever happen. She encouraged believers to be steadfast in the faith in God no matter the situation that life throws at them.

As part of the summit, special prayers were offered for the continued peace and prosperity of the state and the country at large. Special prayers were also offered for the first family, members of the state Executive council, and the church.

Present at the prayer summit were the wife of speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Itohowo Bassey, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet, the Special Adviser Bureau of Rural Development and Cooperative, Mrs. Ekemini Umoh, wife of the erstwhile governor of Cross River state, Nne Isong, Mrs. Funmi Nkanga and wife of the former deputy governor, Lady Akon Udofia. Others were the PDP woman leader Mrs. Mmeme Akpabio, wives of commissioners and special advisers, female permanent secretaries, female transition chairmen, PDP chapter women leaders, Mbong Iban and a cross section of Akwa Ibom women.
