PHOTO NEWS: Lawmakers hold valedictory session in honour of a departed former Assembly man

…………………Members of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and former parliamentarians under the umbrella of ‘Congress of Former Legislators, today, Thursday held a valedictory sitting in honour of a departed colleague, and former House of Assembly member, Late Hon. (Chief) Bruno E. Etim, who represented IKONO/Oku State Constituency in the then Cross River State House of Assembly in 1983.

The valedictory session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, was held in the Chambers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
The Late Hon. Etim won election into the Cross Assembly under the platform of the now defunct National Party of Nigeria, NPN.
Both serving and former members of the House took turn to pay tribute to their departed colleague. The representative of Uyo State House constituency in the Assembly, Hon. Monday Eyo in his tribute described the deceased as a consummate politician, community leader, who represented his people well in his time.
Member representing INI State constituency, and Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong acknowledged him as a man the humility and a grass root mobilizer who earned the trust of his people.
Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh of Esit-Eket /Ibeno state constituency, while expressing regret at the demise of the former parliamentarian, urged members of bereaved family, friends a colleagues to be consoled in the biblical provision which states that there is time for everything(Time to be born and time to die).
Mbo State constituency lawmaker, Hon. Samuel Ufuo in his eulogy said the Late Hon. Bruno was a highly disciplined politician who contributed immensely to the growth and development of the society.
Bruno’s colleague in the Cross River Assembly, Hon. Maurice Ukpong who represented Oniong West State constituency, in ONNA in his tribute described the departed former lawmaker as a conscientious politician who was constantly in tune with his constituents while serving in the legislature.
On his part the Leader, Congress of Former Legislators, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Saturday Akpan acknowledged the contributions he made for the uplift of the society. “We acknowledge the greatness of this man. We acknowledge who he was”.
In his tribute, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke described him as an erudite legislator, illustrious son and a father who has fought a good fight.
“Late Hon (Chief) Bruno E. Etim has fought the good fight, he has finished his course and he has kept the faith. We might be here to pay our last respect, but his legacies will not be forgotten. It is our prayer that his soul rests in peace “.
A minute silence was observed in honour of the departed, while prayer for the bereaved family was led by the House Leader, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan.
The Honourable members of the House and former Legislators filed past the corpse as they paid their last respect to their colleague. His remains were later handed to the family for burial.
