PRESS RELEASE: CHANGE OF DATE ON THE CORONATION OF OKU IBOM IBIBIO
……………The Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers (Ifim Ibom Ibibio) wishes to announce a change of date on the planned coronation of the Patriarch of Ibibio Nation, the Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers (Ifim Ibom Ibibio), His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon Daniel Etuk JP, who is the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Consequently, the coronation will now hold on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Asan Ibibio, Ikot Oku Ikono, Uyo against the initial date of Friday, December 28, 2018.
The change of date is necessitated by the planned visit of His Excellency, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Akwa Ibom State on same earlier date of Friday, December 28, 2018.
The Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers (ifim Ibom Ibibio) took the decision to change the date as a mark of honour for Mr. President and in keeping with the overriding protocol usually accorded the office of Mr. President.
We sincerely wish that this gesture will be reciprocated by the Presidency on all matters, not only about the Ibibio race but all Akwa Ibomites as a whole.
We call on all Ibibio sons and daughters, Akwa Ibomites, fellow Nigerian compatriots and foreign nationals to join hands in celebrating the new Patriarch of Ibibio, His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP., at the coronation ceremony on Monday, December 31, 2018.
We also wish to advise all Ibibio communities to put aside any other cultural ceremony during the duration of the coronation on Monday, December 31, 2018, in other to ensure the overall success of the coronation of the new Oku Ibom Ibibio.
