PRESS RELEASE: NUJ Boss Appreciates Gov Emmanuel over Media Parley
………..The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Elder Patrick Albert has commended the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel over his hosting of journalists to a Media Chat towards marking his three years in office.
According to the Chairman, the Media Chat which took place at the State Banquet Hall on, Saturday, June 2, 2018 has opened up the programmes which the State Government has been able to achieve within the three years period of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration.
Elder Albert pointed out that the media chat has not only made Journalists to be abreast of some positive development achieved by the administration, but has also made them to appreciate the policy direction of the administration.
He offered insight to the fact that regular interface between journalists and various arms of government – Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary as well as other stakeholders will always be useful to equip journalists with information to disseminate to the public such that it will engender harmony, unity and development in the State and beyond.
Elder Albert also commended journalists for availing themselves for the media chat insisting that such interface is healthy for the profession.
The Chairman expressed optimism that the State government will make the chat regular and also make its operation more open for journalists to carry out their constitutional duties.
The NUJ helmsman reiterated the Union’s commitment to carrying out its constitutional duties in a way that will promote the well being and development of the State.
