……….Earlier today the College of Personal Aides in Uyo Senatorial District (COPA USD) has concluded plans to step up efforts to drum support to return the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, to office for second term come 2019.

This was disclosed during a courtesy call to the political leader of Uyo Senatorial District and former Military Governor of the state, Air Commodore Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, in his Uyo residence today Wednesday June 27, 2018.

While receiving the Governor’s Aides, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga thanked them for the honour done on him, and stated that Akwa Ibom already a developed state which cannot be compared with other states in the country.

He assured of his readiness to partner with the Divine Mandate movement, and made case for proper registration of COPA USD with the Divine Mandate organization.

Air Commodore Nkanga charged USD COPA to take the ongoing voters card registration exercise to the grassroots which he said is the guaranteed roadmap to return Governor to office during the 2019 general elections.

The Dean College of Personal Aides, Uyo Senatorial District (COPA USD), Barr. Andem Ndem, in his remarks, noted that the courtesy call to the political leader was inspired by the fact that every policy is local, saying that “All the nine local government areas that make up Uyo Senatorial District are owned by stakeholders, people who own and maintain the political field.

“So before going into anybody’s tertiary politically, it is pertinent to obey the law of political recognition by going to the stakeholders and alert them of what you want to do, and get their blessings and support so that you don’t run into operational hitches.”

He further disclosed that COPA USD, which has about 67 members, is a body of aides appointed by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, to work with him, adding that they are very vibrant and committed to the course.

“We are meeting to propagate the sole intention of working hard to return our boss during the 2019 general elections to complete the good works he has started in the state.

“We are visiting the nine local government areas within the senatorial district, segmenting them into wards and units to drive the message as well as sensitise for voters card registration to bring people into the ‘voters net’ because election is a process.

“It is not just on the election day that you need the people, but you start now to get people registered and sensitise them so that they will know who to vote for on that day. Above all, without the PVC, you cannot vote for the candidate of your choice. So these are the steps we are taking to ensure that come 2019, Governor Udom Emmanuel will definitely return to office because he has given us soft landing by way of proven projects and established capacities.”

Speaking Barr. Andem who is Special Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters, said: “Uyo Senatorial District has an interest over all other senatorial districts of the state in returning Gov Emmanuel because that is the only short cut and the guaranteed route to the governorship position returning to Uyo comes 2023. All others are political gambles. So Uyo Senatorial District is taking the only guaranteed roadmap to ensure that the governorship position returns by returning Gov Emmanuel to complete his eight years in office representing Eket Senatorial District.

“We know that it is a very tasking campaign but nothing is too much to do to ensure the return of our Governor because he first loved us by giving us this appointment. So it is time for compensation and the only way we can pay him back is to justify our appointments by working together to ensure that he returns to office come 2019,” he concluded.

In the attendance were, Elder Amanam Nkanga, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Supervision; Mr David Linus, Lady Catherine Asian, Prince Aniefiok Attah, Mr Moses Essien, Evang. Mike Essien, Engr. Uwem Udoka and Mr Ifreke Eno Hanson all Special Assistants on Project Supervision. Others are Mr Joseph Okon and Mr Idorenyin Raphael, Special Assistants on Grassroots Reorientation, and Traders Matters respectively.
