AHEAD 2019: A NEW GROUP BIRTHS IN AKWA IBOM STATE

………….A new socio-political group, Kate-Martha’s Foundation for Udom Emmanuel, has held its first meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing newsmen at the first inaugural meeting held at Emrosy Hotel, Uyo on Tuesday, the National Coordinator of the foundation, Lady Kate Ekong, revealed that the platform of the foundation is to project women who have voices but don’t have opportunity to air their views, to empower women and youths across the 31 local government areas of the state.

“Kate-Martha’s Foundation is a foundation that aims to help women to stand out through empowerment. We will do our best for women to stand out, however little. But one thing I want from us is for us to be good people with one mind.”

She said that the group will have steering committees at the state, zonal, local government and ward levels, and pledged the total support and loyalty of the group to the party and its leadership at every level.

According to her, Kate-Martha’s Foundation will be rolling out programmes like seminars and mass rallies, radio programmes, where market women and students including youths would be engaged on the manifesto and programmes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Lady Ekong emphatically stated that wife of the state Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, is a light to the state and a good woman with a heart of gold for women, youth and men in the state, and prayed God to project her more to national level.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Assistant Coordinator of the foundation, Mrs Chioma Akpanudoh, said that the foundation aims at giving hope to the hopeless and giving helping hands to the downtrodden.

She added that the objective of the group is for women and youth empowerment, job creation and support for ‘Mr Industrialisation’, Gov Udom Emmanuel, come 2019 and beyond, and therefore called on members to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Card Registration for them to be eligible to vote during the 2019 general election.

Also present at the meeting was the Secretary of the foundation, Ini Adams; Uyo Coordinator, Hon (Mrs) Sylvia Ekong; and coordinators of other local government areas.
