BREAKING NEWS: PARIS CLUB REFUND: A’Ibom Government gears up to pay backlog of Salaries, Pensions and Gratuities.

…………………………Akwa Ibom state government hasacknowledged the receipt of N10 billion naira, share of the Paris club refund, recently disbursed by the federal government to the 36 states of the federation.

This is the second tranche of the Paris Club refund, released by the federal government. The first tranche of about N14 billion naira was received by the state government in ‎December 2016.

Commissioner for finance, Mr Nsikan Linus Nkan gave the acknowledgement during a press conference at his office in Uyo.

Mr Nkan said the state’s share of the refund was received last Friday. He said the fund will be used to pay salaries, offset backlog of salaries, pensions and gratuities to workers.

He specifically stated that the Next of Kin of Primary School Teachers, who have been agitating for the payment of their late parent’s entitlements, would be accommodated in the spending of the fund.

In an economy marred by severe,biting and chronic recession amid downturn, Gov. Udom Emmanuel had since assumption of duties as the State Chief Executive made it his key charge and paramount desire to pay and update the salary status of workers across board.
