COMMISSIONER EXTOLS GOV EMMANUEL’S EFFORTS IN COMBATING COVID-19
……………GOVERNOR Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has again been commended for the steps taken to combat the spread of Coronavirus in the State.
The lastest eulogy came from Governor Emmanuel’s Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, who on Monday, described the State Chief Executive as “a leader with Christ-like virtues who genuinely loves and looks after the welfare and wellbeing of Akwa Ibomites and other residents.”
Inyang-Eyen, who supervises the construction of a-300 bed isolation centre at the General Hospital Ituk Mbang, Uruan LGA, extolled the governor for establishing fully-fitted isolation centres in different parts of the State with world-class medical equipment, aside provision of ambulances, kits and other facilities, describing the feat as remarkable.
He noted that it was significant to commend the governor for what he termed topnotch leadership courage and for living up to expectation even before the State recorded its first index case of COVID 19.
Inyang-Eyen hinted that the new isolation centre in Uruan is constructed in line with international best practice such that it ensures greater safety and care of patients as well as the medical staff that will be attending to them.
The Commissioner who revealed that the construction of the facility was done day and night so as to get it ready soon, observing that some sections of the centre now requires finishing touches.
The centre, according to the work boss has a space for 300 beds, a doctor quarters, laboratory, canteen and administrative offices.
Recall that Governor Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by other top officials of the Akwa Ibom state government had visited the construction site on April 20, and was said to be satisfied with the pace of work.
Recently, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Akwa Ibom State chapter, headed by Rt Hon Frank Archibong, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Task Force on the restriction of movement order and State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, Students’ body as well as top medical experts, have visited the soon-to-be completed Isolation Centre, where they extolled the governor for channeling the State’s resources to areas that have great impact on the lives of Akwa Ibomites.
