“The implementation of the increment at a time we least expected drew tears of joy from many of us. Indeed, some of us had regarded several promises of the increment with doubt”.

“Therefore, your Excellency, by this singular action, you have demonstrated to us that you are a caring and loving father that is committed to the welfare of his children”.

“We wish to assure you from our hearts that in the spirit of patriotism with renewed vigour, we shall always abide by the objectives of the NYSC Scheme in our conduct”.

Also speaking during the visit, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare said Corps Members all over the country were overwhelmed with joy as they received bank alerts based on the new minimum wage.

President Buhari thanked the Corps Members for the visit while he described NYSC as one of the best initiatives for national unity, cohesion and sustainable future.

He commended the founder of NYSC Scheme, General Yakubu Gowon for his nationalistic and patriotic thinking of establishing the NYSC in 1973.

“Whenever l meet General Gowon up till today, l do thank him for establishing the NYSC. I strongly believe that NYSC should continue”, President Buhari said.
