***Ikpe Obong Collapses Structure for OBA’s reelection
……………The Standard bearer of the People’s Democratic Party for Uyo Senatorial District in the 2019 elections, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan, has kicked off its ward to ward campaigns, with a promise of protecting the interest of Akwa Ibom North East in the Political landscape of the country, and ensuring more empowerment of its constituents.
Albert, who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Gas Resources made the declaration at Nsit Atai Ward 5, during the PDP Senatorial Campaign rally of Senator Bassey Albert, held at St. Pius Primary School, Ikot Itie Idung, Monday.
“I don’t deserve thank you from you, because you all elected me to speak on your behalf in the red chambers of the National assembly. I will not betray the confidence and trust you all have in me”, he noted.
Receiving the Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organization, Commissioner for Housing and Political Leader of Nsit Atai, Otuekong Raphael Bassey, praised the lawmaker, for bringing a new model of representation to people of the Senatorial District, and promised to work towards his reelection in 2019.
“In Uyo Senatorial District, we are blessed to have Senator Bassey Albert. The people of Nsit Atai have assured you today and i stand to confirm that we will return all candidates of the PDP in the 2019 elections. It is a challenge and we must prove a point, that we are united than what is portrayed by outsiders”, he said.
Speakers at the rally, poured encomiums on the Senator for ensuring the political interest of the Senatorial District is protected, devoid of intimidation and prosecutions he has been through in recent times. They enjoined him to be focused and also work assiduously for the emergence of Governor Udom Emmanuel in next year’s poll, as this was the surest way for Uyo Senatorial District to take back power in 2023.
The campaign train also stopped at Ibesikpo Asutan Ward 5, where they were received by member representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko. At the rally, a former aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Comrade Ikpe Obong, collapsed his political structure for Senator Albert and promised to campaign vigorously for his reelection.
“Senator Albert has recently filled the gap that people taught that will not be filled. I am proud to be with him and I have told people from my camp that our structure henceforth has been collapsed into Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organization. Many people taught I had defected to APC because of my relationship with Adam Oshiomole. Myself and Adams worked together in Labour House. I decided to stick with the PDP because of the course of Uyo Senatorial District”, he declared.
