IN THE NEWS: Court Stops EFCC From Harassing Sen. OBA, adjourns case to Jan. 23

…………The High Court of Lagos State has ordered the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) from further harassing Senator Bassey Albert (OBA) to come to their office for personal service for the charges preferred against him.

At the resumed sitting of the case today, Wednesday, 12th December, 2018, the court after submission by learned SAN also pronounced that Senator OBA does not need to appear in court until his application to quash the charges is determined.

The court presided over by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo equally ordered EFCC to serve Senator OBA’s lawyers with the charges and refrain from harassing him to come to their office for personal service of the charges on him.

The case was adjourned to 23 January for hearing of Senator OBA’s application to quash the charges.

Recall that the commission had four months ago filed a charge at an Ikeja High court alleging that the senator received car gifts during his campaigns in 2014, a charge the senator has dismissed as political witch hunting.
