IN THE NEWS: Jubilation as Governor Udom Emmanuel inagurates road in Ibesikpo Asutan

…………..There was jubilation in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa bom State following the inauguration of 1.5 kilometers Afaha Ikot Obio Nkan road by the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
Governor Emmanuel had pledged his administration’s resolve to construct rural roads, link them up with urban roads and rehabilitate internal roads within the Uyo metropolis and environs to ease traffic along major roads in the State.
Speaking at the inauguration point along Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Governor Emmanuel said he has kept his word as demonstrated by the road project executed in Ibesikpo Asutan which is being inaugurated and 28 road projects executed in Uyo, as well as several others in various local Government Areas in the State.
Governor Emmanuel commended the Ministry of Works for effective supervision of the project, while also lauding the effort of Hensek, the construction firm that handled the Afaha Ikot Obio Nkan Road.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, in his remarks, noted that, the project which was executed by an indigenous contractor has been done to specification. He stressed that the Ministry under his watch is determined to deliver to Akwa Ibom people quality road infrastructure that is durable and can stand the test of time. He thanked the benefiting community for their cooperation with the contractors while the project lasted which contributed to the timely completion of the job.
The community members, who explained that the road before now was impassable, appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for coming to their rescue, especially in the raining days.
The Villagee Head of Afaha Ikot Obio Nkan, Eteidung Bassey Umoren, who also appreciated the governor for the good work, however appealed that the drainage system be linked up properly.
Governor Emmanuel in his response to the appeal assured the community that the outfall drains will be completely linked up for safety of residents.
Women groups, youth organizations, stakeholders, traditional and religious leaders and a good number of people turned out for the inauguration which witnessed singing in drumming and dancing.
