*Allegedly administers ‘mbiam’, bribes Youth With N50Million

………………Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Nsima Ekere, has again been accused of monstrous squandermania and diversion of funds meant for development of the region to nurturing his political aspiration in 2019.
This time, a whooping sum of Two Hundred Million Naira (N200, 000, 000. 00) meant for drilling industrial boreholes and other public utilities in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, is said to have been diverted with the sum of 50 Million Naira given to one Isaac Uwem, from Abat Town in Etim Ekpo, to launch the governorship campaigns of the NDDC boss in Abak Federal Constituency.
Our reporter exclusively gathered that the said Uwem Otu, a divorced father of two was allegedly forced to take a local fetish oath by crossing a coffin and drinking some concoctions at Nsima’s countryhome in Ikot Oborenyin in Ikot Abasi LGA with a pledge of allegiance to support the NDDC top man for governorship under APC.
Mr Ekere, our reporter gathered has become synonymous with oath administration on innocent Akwa Ibom citizens. His former aide claimed that about 80 percent of mad men in the State are people Nsima administered ‘mbiam’ to.
However, this idea of subjecting people to oath taking has never been able to help him in the past, there is therefore no guarantee that such diabolical act would help him this time.
In the meantime, a Socio-political organization from the area; Etim Ekpo Transparency Group (ETA) has asked Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to probe Ekere on the alleged funds diversion.
The Publicity Secretary of ETA; Barr. Sylvester Obot, alleged that the spate of the depletion of the NDDC funds for the development of the region, particularly the money meant for drilling industrial boreholes and provision of other Public Utilities in the entire 10 Wards of Etim Ekpo, was mind-boggling.
The group accused Mr Nsima Ekere for shortchanging the people of Etim Ekpo saying the NDDC was using the funds meant for citing projects to launch attacks on PDP members in the State, particularly, Etim Ekpo and the neighboring Local Government Areas.
Alleging that the NDDC helmsman was the sponsor-in-chief of the chronic killings of innocent sons and daughters of Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas, the group called on the Department of State Security (DSS) to monitor Nsima’s phone calls and text messages with Uwem Otu.
“We are calling on the Federal Government, EFCC and ICPC to move into the NDDC board for a clinical review of the criminal rape of the commonwealth of the long-suffering people of the region, especially Akwa Ibom State, where the Managing Director hails from, before it gets out of hand”, part of the statement read.
Meanwhile, a close friend of Mr Isaac Uwem, who is a one-time Councillor revealed to our reporter that Otu has consulted a powerful herbalist in Ikot Asua, Nsit Atai LGA to reverse the fetish oath (mbiam) of allegiance he swore at Nsima Ekere’s home last week.
He further informed that now that the fetish oath has been reversed by the powerful medicine man in Nsit Atai, Isaac was “as free as air”. According to the source, Uwem was quoted to have said that Nsima, being an Ibibio man cannot use him (Isaac) for his selfish ambition at the detriment of his Annang people.
However, for accepting bribe from Nsima Ekere to cheat and fudge Etim Ekpo people as well as colluding with the NDDC boss to cause mayhem in the area, some youths of Abak Federal Constituency have chastise Isaac Uwem and tagged him ‘Judas Iscariot’ of Annang land.
