IN THE NEWS: UNVEILING THE JINX BREAKER MONDAY OKON

……………..Born on the 28th May, 1974 to the family of Eyo Okon Ekanem of Afaha Oku, Uyo LGA, Hon Monday Eyo Okon attended the St Joseph Primary School, Afaha Oku where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1989.

Little Monday Eyo Okon later attended the Community Secondary School, Mbak Etoi, Uyo LGA where he obtained his SSCE in 2002.

He further had his National Board for Technical Education certificate from 2005-2006.

Young growing Monday Eyo attended the prestigious University of Uyo where he obtained his BSc in Marketing in 2014.

As a young graduate, Monday Eyo got involved in business and was doing very well until the call to serve his people came where he became the Vice Chairman of Uyo Local Government in 2008-2011. He later served as Special Assistant to the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, H.E Godswill Akpabio from 2011-2015.

However, the Golden Fish who has no hiding was fished out to serve the good people of Uyo State Constituency from 2015 till date. He was the Committee Chairman on NDDC, and now the Committee Chairman on Health of the 6th Assembly of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly.

Hon Monday Eyo who is a Deacon in the Living Faith Church is married to a beautiful wife, Mrs Joyful Monday Eyo and the union is blessed with three(3) beautiful kids.

He has been honored with various Awards too numerous to mention including the Honour by Oku and Etoi Communities respectively.

However, as a law maker, Hon Eyo has fulfilled the three responsibilities of a law maker which includes Law making, Oversight functions and and Representation.

In the 6th Assembly where he is representing the good people of Uyo State Constituency, Hon Monday Eyo has moved some motions, Co – sponsored some bills and performed some oversight functions.

On Oversight functions, he has conducted public hearing on ;

1. A bill on Health Insurance Scheme

2. A bill on Primary Healthcare Agency amongst others.

The motions moved by the silent achiever includes;

1. Repairs of Roads in Uyo Metropolis

2. Illegal, reckless and dehumanizing treatment of indigenes and dwellers of Afaha Idoro, Oku – Uyo and environs by Policemen of the Mobile Police Base, Idoro, Uyo.

1. A law to amend the Akwa Ibom State Town and Country Planning law and other matters connected therewith.

2. A bill for a law to provide the establishment of an Agency which will promote and implement the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme, and for other matters connected thereto.

3. A law to make provisions for Local Government Administration in Akwa Ibom State and other matters connected therewith.

4. A bill for a law to make provisions for Employment of Youths of Akwa Ibom State.

5. A bill for a law for protection of Investors and Investment in Akwa Ibom State and other matters connected therewith.

6. A bill for a law to establish Akwa Ibom State Sports Development Funds.

7. A bill for a law to introduce First Aid/Emergency Response Curriculum in all the Schools in Akwa Ibom State and other matters connected therewith.

8. A law to protect people living with HIV/AIDS against all forms of Stigma and Discrimination and for other matters connected therewith.

9. A bill for a law to establish the Akwa Ibom Safety Commission and other matters connected thereto

10. A bill for a law to establish Akwa Ibom State Consumer Protection Agency to provide for the protection of the interest of consumers, settlement of Consumer Disputes, and for connected purposes.

However, on Wednesday, 7th March, 2018, at the St Joseph Primary School, Afaha Oku, Uyo, the AKHA Silent Achiever shall break the Jinx of Constituency Briefing as he is set to do the first ever Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Program aimed at reporting progress to the people of Uyo State Constituency whose mandate he is holding effectively at the 6th Assembly of The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly (AKHA).
