IN THE NEWS: URUAN TO BECOME OIL PRODUCING AREA SOON- GOVERNOR EMMANUEL

………………..Governor Udom Emmanuel has announced that Uruan Local Government area will soon become part of the oil producing communities in Akwa Ibom State.

He said his government was on the verge of signing some documents to recognise the area as an oil producing community.

Governor Emmanuel who stated this while addressing party-faithful and supporters at a campaign rally in Uruan Local Government Area enjoined the people to vote for all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The State Chief Executive noted that the first ever Green House project, the Cattle Ranch and every project that was ongoing will be completed and inaugurated.

Governor Emmanuel recalled the deplorable state of the Methodist Hospital, Ituk Mbang before the massive intervention by his government and explained to them that the process to get the cows into the ranch was still in progress.

He advised the people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards from the Independent National Electoral Commission as the 2019 elections are by the corner.

The Governor noted that in a state of more than six million, the choice of who leads the state at every time should not be an individual thing but a collective responsibility.

He encouraged the people to do same for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections explaining that his administration was into politics of development rather than deceiving the people.

Mr Emmanuel promised to continue with the development of Infrastructure and Indutrialization in the state.

The Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan described the Governor as a performer and God’s own choice for the state.

The Senator said voting Governor Emmanuel will be the only guarantee for Uyo Senatorial District to get to the Hilltop Mansion in 2023 unruffled, and called on the electorate to vote for all the PDP candidates.

The member for Uyo Federal Constituency, Mr Mike Enyong, who is seeking re-election applauded the Governor for his Industrialization drive, explaining that for giving the state thirteen industries in three and a half years, he has provided, on the average, one industry every four months in office.

He charged the Governor to move on as they were solidly behind him.

Similarly, the state Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, thanked the party faithful for being steadfast and noted with satisfaction that the promises made to the area, from the road, industry, and education were being fulfilled.

The party chairman, who explained that the decision to vote all PDP candidates has not changed advised the people to vote for the umbrella to ensure enduring peace and development.

In a remark, the Director-General, Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga likened the upcoming elections to a referendum for people to choose between darkness and light, saying that anybody who does not support restructuring, education and labour should not be voted.

Earlier, Chief Peter Ekpe Atakpo, former council chairman, Mr Tony Akan, woman leader, Mrs Josephine Bassey, Chapter Chairman, Hon. Obot Okon Essien and Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. Henry Isaiah Udofia all expressed appreciation to the Governor for the construction of roads in the area and assured of support.

While in the Palace of the Paramount Ruler, Edidem Cosmas Nkanga, on behalf of other royal fathers, noted that Uruan has never been so recognized in terms of appointments and road infrastructure.

The royal father said it is the position of Uruan that Governor Emmanuel should return to the office till 2023 and presented gifts as well as made requests to the state’s Chief Executive.

Highpoints of the campaign rally were the presentation of flags to candidates and reception of politicians who defected from APC to PDP.
