The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert (OBA) and Senator Representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, enlightens over 30 Trainees of OBA’s Free Graduate Retraining Programme which initiative is aimed at training several digital advocates and equipping them with world class Information and Communication Technology skills/certification which would have cost each of the trianee a minimum of N300,000 (three hundred thousand Naira) respectively.
Senator Bassey, while addressing students of his Graduate Retraining Programme said that there’s more prospects, fortune in ICT than Oil & Gas and advised Nigerians to brace up and utilize the technological era, as technology has since overtaken the oil and gas industry in growth and made the assertion at the Senator OBA Digital Technology Hub at Ifa Ikot Akpan, Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State today on Monday, January 10, 2022.
Senator OBA commended instructors of the centre for the assiduous training of participants and promised to continue utilizing their expertise in the running of the centre while encourage the graduates who are undergoing the training to use the knowledge they will garner to add value to themselves and society rather than wait for limited white collar jobs or jump into politics.
“This training can empower you for the rest of your life. I am very, very delighted today because one of the deficiencies we have is that every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to be a politician. This training will help correct such mindset,” he added.
He also initiated an award and rewards parkage for best graduating ICT Retraining Programme of Senator OBA Digital Technology Hub.
