MY SIX YEARS OF UNPARALLELED ACCOMPLISHMENTS -Senator Bassey Albert

My six (6) years at the Senate have not only been years of achievements but historic legacies. The result of these action-laden years is what people have witnessed and christened” The New Breath of Fresh Air” as he has brought a new perspective to democratic governance in Akwa Ibom State and ended up leaving Uyo Senatorial District as a model in human capacity development. Below showcases the sectorial achievements regarded as my legacies.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND EMPOWERMENT
Training & Empowerment of 247 youth and women; purchase and supply of 48 standing hairdryers, 48 electric tongs, 48 hand dryers, 48 pedicure bowls, 59 hair clippers, 59 towel warmers & 59 Sterilizers, on 26 0ctober, 2020, through SMEDAN EDP ( https://www.facebook.com/511160669047435/posts/1739049086258581/ )

EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT

EMPLOYMENT
On employment, Senator Albert has successfully employed over 100 indigenes into various MDAs including Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) , Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS (FIRS), National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN), Federal University, Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), The Nigerian Army, Airforce, Navy, and the Nigeria Police Force

LEGISLATIVE ACHIVEMENTS
He spearheaded the resolution of a decade-old dispute between NNPC and Chevron Nigeria Limited over the Escravos Gas to Liquid (EGTL) Project. That breakthrough in negotiation led to the historic signing of the NNPC/Chevron EGTL Revised Agreement, which provided an instant leap for Nigeria in her energy sector and led to the reversal of the Joint Venture sharing ratio of 25:75 to 60:40 in favour of our dear country and Chevron Nigeria Limited respectively with a cost savings of over $6 Billion.

Sponsored Five Bills in the 8th Senate and Six Bills so far in the 9th Senate including;
the Bill to amend the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract, Cap D3 LFN (Amendment) Bill 2019, which was formally signed into law by Mr. President in November 2019.
The Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan Bill, 2016
Gas Flaring (Prohibition and Punishment) Bill, 2016
The National Youth Employment and Development Bill, 2017
Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2020
Public Complaints Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021
And presently championing the Petroleum Industry Bill, 2021

Moved several motions of National importance including:

Motion on the urgent need to halt the dilapidated and disintegrated state of Ikot Ekpene-Itu-Calabar Federal Highway. As a result of the motion, the Senate set up an ad-hoc committee to inspect all bad federal roads and made recommendations.

Motion on the need to curb the soaring rate of unemployment in Nigeria. The motion called on the government at all levels to take decisive steps to address the unemployment situation in the country.

Motion on the urgent need to address the present economic state of the nation. The motion drew the attention of the government to the nation’s economic scorecard, released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Presented several petitions including:
the one that brought about the reinstatement of a police officer who was wrongfully dismissed from the service for over 21 years and;
another that culminated in the reinstatement of a Director who was wrongfully suspended from the service.

I remain very grateful to my constituents and stakeholders and assure you of my commitment, loyalty, and effective service delivery as we enter the last phase of my journey in the National Assembly.
