“Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see” – Mark Twain

The above popular quote personifies the character of Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel. Since the inauguration of her social intervention vehicle, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path Initiative (FEYReP), in 2015, First Lady Martha Emmanuel has continued to use the platform to demonstrate that real contentment lies in putting smiles on the faces of the people who may never be able to repay such kind gestures.

Martha’s goodwill and compassion can never be undervalued or destroyed because she is purely living out the words of James 1:27 “that pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world”

As at the last count, more than fifteen widows, widowers, and families that could not afford a roof over their heads have all been provided shelter through the ‘Shelter Support Programme’ of FEYReP. Also, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel has through FEYReP adopted more than 1000 orphans and indigent children across the state. Through her yearly ‘Back to School programmes’; Presentation of educational materials such as books, school bags, uniforms, school boxes, toiletries etc. are dolled out to these children in foster care centres across the state.

She has reached out with care for abandoned children and those in foster care through regular support (food, cash and other supplies) for special children’s homes across the state. Those ‘ behind bars’ are not left out of this regular visits, as she makes sure that food and relief materials are evenly distributed to them.

Her work has impacted multiple birth children, indigent families, street children, the homeless, victims of domestic violence and several other susceptible ones in the state. She has in the past 20 months provided lifelines to more than 5,000 families; more than 3,000 of them through special medical interventions and about 2,000 through economic skills, equipment and business start-up grants.

Indeed, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel has demonstrated an unmitigated flair In touching the lives of the less fortunate in the society. Just as the saying goes “behind every successful man is a good woman,” Mrs. Emmanuel is indeed playing her supportive role in her husband’s drive to move the state forward.

Of a truth, in almost two years of existence, FEYReP is a balm that is soothing the pains of the less fortunate families in the state. Our collective prayers therefore remains that God continue to strengthen and bless this noble mother of ours, as she continues to discharge this selfless service to humanity.
