WORLD-CLASS MULTI-PURPOSE RECREATIONAL FACILITY & ROAD PROJECT TO BE INAUGURATED JANUARY 29,

…….The Leader, Akwa lbom State Caucus at the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Obong Bassey Albert Akpan OBA, Senator representing Akwa lbom North East Senatorial District at the red chamber of the National Assembly, made this statement in 2015, before his formal inauguration as a Senator. Here is what he said; “governance exists and will continue to exist for public good and for the greater good of humanity”.
That being the case, Senator OBA has demonstrated this understanding at the National Assembly, thus, his exceptional strides at the red chamber as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream).
Having said that, let me start by expressing my delight to our distinguished Senator, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan, for discharging his constitutional duty creditably, which requires him as a people’s Senator to act descriptively in meeting the yearnings of his constituents for development and federal presence.
My delight is expansive because of his (OBA’s) success at the red chamber of the National Assembly. Hence, it must be said that he as our Senator deserves our commendations.
I am also pleased to acknowledge that, while Senator OBA has done creditably well at the National Assembly, he has also inject fresh perspectives to legislative outlook, which of course, has translated to better service delivery to our people.
However, his method of addressing salient issues that remain engaging, such as the nature of his assignment as a Senator, his relationship with the executive to drive home his people expectations and his powers of appropriation remains a mystery.
Besides law making, Senator OBA, has done more than expected. Apart from the fact that he was elected to represent the people of Akwa lbom North East Senatorial District, he has exceeded bounds, hence, makes a link between federal government and his people.
However, although, democracy has given the people of Akwa lbom North East Senatorial District, the opportunity to determine how they are to be represented, nevertheless, the people of Uyo Senatorial District, and indeed the entire Akwa lbom people have been looking up to the Senator for democracy dividends.
Interestingly, in response to the yearnings of his constituents for development and federal presence, Senator OBA has attracted several life-touching and meaningful projects to his constituency and across board in Akwa lbom, since the inception of his legislative engagement at the National Assembly.

These and many other accomplishment of Obong Bassey Albert Akpan, have painted Senator OBA in good light, though time and space will not allow me to start counting his accomplishment since 2015 till date.
That being said, it is very clear that, it is not the role of a Senator to build roads and hospitals and schools among others, nevertheless, the kind of laws that OBA has contributed to, has enable quick and efficient delivery of these services to his constituents
Be that as it were, there are much I would loved to say about Senator OBA, but the occasion dictates that many of those things be deferred to another opportunity, and hopefully, when next I return, l will be able to substantially exhaust Senator OBA’s accomplishment at the National Assembly.
Nevertheless, this piece is looking at His (Senator OBA’s) Thanksgiving Service, in appreciation to God for His benevolence to meeting the yearning of his people through representative governance.
The event which is billed for Saturday, January 29, 2022, with the theme: “LORD WE ARE GRATEFUL”, taken from Psalm 9 : 1 & 1 Corinthians 15 : 57. is expected to be graced by Principal officers from the National Assembly, and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP National Working Committee NWC, including some members of the Federal Executive Council.
Meanwhile, in the course of the event, Nigeria’s Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, is expected on Saturday, January 29, 2022, to commission a World Class Multi-purpose Recreational Facility – a multimillion naira sports complex built by Senator Bassey Albert Akpan
The world class sports facility that sits on two acres of land on the outskirts of Uyo metropolis along the Airport road, precisely at Ifa Ikot Akpan community in Uyo local government area is among the flagship constituency projects of Senator OBA to his people
The state-of-the-art complex, which has a standard football field and basketball pitch and lawn tennis court and a 1,500 capacity event centre, including Information and Communication Technology ICT hub, is expected to serve as a Community and Youth Development Centre.
Other components in the facility include bar and restaurant and solar power support system and water treatment facility and a transformer.
According to Senator OBA, the aim of building the mini sports complex is to serve as a hub for promoting sporting activities and other recreational activities among the people in the community.
More so, other projects billed for inauguration in the community is a 1.3km road project by Governor Udom Emmanuel among other projects facilitated Senator Akpan.
However, during the event, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa lbom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, alongside other distinguished personalities from the state and diaspora are among those expected to also grace the event.
