By: Nelson NseAbasi
…………The Commissioner at the Ministry of Housing and Special Duties in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Akan Okon, is set to unveil a gazette to reel out activities and achievements of the ministry under his watch.
The hint was given by his Special Assistant on Media, Bokime Asuquo in Uyo, where the Commissioner’s aide said his boss, Mr Okon, who is very pragmatic in his dealings, had given him and the information organ of the ministry headed by the Officer, Mrs Glory James, a task to liaise with the consultants to birth a monthly publication and the baby is due for delivery.
Named ‘Special Duties’, the monthly newsletter will fill the vacuum of unavailability of information to journalists at press time, making citizens become insiders, the first to learn about happenings in the ministry’. Speaking further, he said, ‘It will be our media center, readily providing updates on special projects embarked upon by the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration, call it a diary of giant strides’ he stated.
He added that Mr Akan Okon sees it as a responsibility to report progress to the people he leads, and Governor Emmanuel who he represents. Furthermore, the newsletter will also position the ministry to continually promote the Akwa Ibom brand, especially to potential investors. The release date is fixed for August 7, 2018, it will be available in leading Newspapers in the state, also circulated strategically across Nigeria and in major cities across continents.
Bokime said Mr Okon in his tradition, leaves imprints wherever Governor Udom Emmanuel sends him to serve, considering the cordial working relationship with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Efiakedoho, as such, the publication will not fall short of excellence.
