IN THE NEWS: DR. MARTHA EMMANUEL SHINES AT THE PINK AWARDS, BAGS WOMAN OF THE YEAR PRIZE
…..The wife of Akwa Ibom governor, Dr. Martha Emmanuel has been conferred with ‘Woman of the year Award’ by La Veronica Magazine for her renowned and outstanding impact on women advocacy, upholding the rights of the girl child and uplifting the standards of the women, youths and the vulnerable generally in the society.
The Woman of the year award was presented to Dr. Emmanuel at the 3rd Annual PINK Awards ceremony, an initiative of La Veronica Magazine to celebrate individuals, Corporate organizations and institutions for their achievements and contributions to the development of society and humanity, held at Mimaya Event Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, last Sunday.
Responding after receiving the award, Dr. Emmanuel expressed delight, said that the award will further boost her drive to serve humanity in general more than she has ever done before.
She pledged that her pet project, FEYReP will continue to strive to improve the lots of women, children, youths, less privileged and the vulnerable in the state and society in general.
Dr. Emmanuel thanked the management of La Veronica Magazine for finding her worthy of the honour and dedicated the award to the Almighty God, her husband and the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking earlier, the Advisory and Board member of the La Veronica Magazine, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, said Dr. Martha Emmanuel won the hearts of all Board members of the Magazine based on her contributions to better humanity and development of the society, courage, doing things in the way and fear of the Lord, achievements and being a positive change agent and a pace setter.
She congratulated the wife of Akwa Ibom governor, wished her well and urged her to keep up the good work she is doing.
Dr. Joe Okei- Odumakin, stressed the need for ‘CAN DO’ spirit especially among Nigerians and advised all and sundry not to give up in every circumstances, saying that, challenges are bound to happened in people’s lives, but ability to withstand should be sacrosanct.
She expressed optimism that success awaits those who persist on good mission and vision.
Also, in her welcome address, publisher of La Veronica Magazine, Veronica Okei, said the gathering was aimed at celebrating those who have singled themselves out in their various fields of life and became role models and amazon.
“PINK here stand for: Prestige, Innovation, Noble and Knowledge. Today, we are celebrating hard work, diligence and selfless contributions of eminent personalities around the globe towards the course of humanity and importance of honouring them while they are alive.
” Today, all the awardees are worthy of their award because they are so special for touching lives in so many positive ways and taken their immediate society out of obscurity through various contributions and initiative. I congratulate and appreciate them”, she said.
The event also featured awards to few other Nigerians including the Chairman/CEO of Air Peace Airline, Chief Allen Onyema; President of Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei- Odumakin; Chairman/ President, Ubong King Foundation, Dr. Ubong King; legendary music icon, Sir Shina Peters; Director General/CEO of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside, etc, launching of the Achievers edition of La Veronica Magazine, cutting of 3rd Anniversary cake and musical performance.
