…..With the commencement of commercial operations by the State Airline, Governor Udom Emmanuel has assured that Ibom Air is an economic enterprise by the Akwa Ibom State Government, that has come to stay.

Governor Emmanuel gave the assurance during an interaction with Government House Correspondents, shortly on arrival from an official engagement, at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.

The Governor said that his government has undertaken a proper business plan to ensure the success of the Airline, stressing that Ibom Air is fully owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government.

“Let me just reassure Akwa Ibomites that we have done a proper business plan, it is not a political launch-out today, it’s purely economic and it’s purely business. Ibom Air is coming to stay, the hand of God is in it.

“What we also did today was just to let people know that Ibom Airlines Limited is a Limited Liability Company. Government owns it 100 percent but it is not run by government, it is run by the experts and will follow a proper business best practices to make sure that it succeeds”, Emmanuel stated.

He remarked that his administration is not perturbed about negative propaganda by critics, explaining that he is focused on what his government can do to better the lives of the people.

According to him, “People don’t believe that anything good can come out of Africa, so you don’t blame them. We are not interested in what they say or what they do, we are interested in what we do for our people. There are a lot of sceptics who are just there to criticise, they must be proved wrong”.

While expressing appreciation to God, the Governor also thanked the management and staff of the Airline for a successful commercial launch tasking them to be committed and excellent in their service delivery.
